ODI GAME 2 – AUSTRALIA v INDIA
Australia have a 1-0 advantage over India after recording a 10 wicket victory over the hosts in game one.
Australia bowled out India for 255 runs before knocking the runs off in less than 38 overs without the loss of a wicket with Warner unbeaten on 128 and Finch unbeaten on 110.
Heading in to the second match today Australia appear very generously priced at $2 while India are the $1.80 favourites.
I am happy to stick with Australia to repeat the dose and will back them at the $2.
Looking for some novelty plays and it is always hard to go past Virat Kohli in most runs India markets – I’ll back him at the $3.
Tomorrow sees a double header in the Big Bash with the Melbourne Stars hosting the Perth Scorchers in the early game while the Sydney Thunder take on the Sydney Sixers in the late game.
It’s hard to make a case for the Scorchers to turn the tables after being so convincingly beaten by them earlier in the week and I think you can use the $1.65 on offer about the Stars in multis.
In the Sydney Derby I lean towards the Sydney Sixers who are a $1.85 chance. The Stars and Sixers double at $3.05 looks a nice play.
In novelty plays on the games I will back Jhye Richardson to be the leading wicket taker for the Scorchers at $3.60 and Tom Curran to be the leading wicket taker for the Sixers at $3.70.
Mitch Marsh at $3.70 to be the leading scorer for the Scorchers is worth a play as is Marcus Stoinis at $3 to top score for the Stars.
The Perth Wildcats play host to the South East Melbourne Phoenix tonight in Bryce Cotton’s 100th match for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats are $1.38 favourites to win the match which I think they will and I will back them at the line to win by 7 points or more at $1.88.
I am also specking the Wildcats to win big and will have something on them to win by 15 points or more at $4 and 25 points or more at $12.
The Perth Glory have won their last five matches in a row and are really starting to put it all together.
This weekend they hit the road to take on Western Sydney and I fancy the Glory to make it six wins on the bounce.
I will take a multi with the Glory to win in to Melbourne City which is paying $3.40
My EPL multi for this week requires Brighton and Hove Albion, Chelsea and Liverpool to all prevail this round. The multi quote is $3.23.
My best racing bets of the weekend are as follows :
Flemington Saturday Race 4 Number 2 Rogue’s Point (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $3.10) : In form three year old who has recorded a win and a 2nd at his last two starts. Steps up to the 2000 metres for the first time here but looks suited by the step up in trip and draws beautifully in barrier 3. Is fit and firing and looks the testing material.
Flemington Saturday Race 8 Number 9 Chicago Cub (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $9.50) : Most impressive at this track and distance when last seen a month ago when he was heavily backed and won in stylish fashion from the very same barrier of 12 up the straight six furlongs. Performs particularly well when his runs are spaced like this and looms as a tremendous value play on an each way basis at nearly double figure odds.
Ascot Saturday Race 5 Number 2 Valour Road (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.00) : The class runner of this field who has won just shy of $900,000 in prizemoney. Reports from the Simon Miller camp are that this fellow is ready to run a big race and with even luck he should be too classy for his opposition in this event. Looks a multi banker.
Ascot Saturday Race 8 Number 1 Essential Spice (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.60) : Classy mare who has won 4 of her last 5 starts with her only defeat a meritorious 3rd behind Fabergino in the Summer Scorcher last start. She steps back in class off that performance and she is likely to be saved up and brought home with one booming finish. I expect her price to trim up and thought she would be very hard to hold out here.
Mandurah Friday Race 7 Number 8 Tommy Shelby (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price Not Available) : Outstanding youngster who is undefeated after 4 starts including a feature race win at Cannington in the Claude Powell Memorial. The clear danger is in box 1 Zack Monelli but I am confident that Tommy is headed for a very bright future and will back him in to overcome box eight and make it 5 straight wins to kick off his career. There look to be two other standout bets on the card – race 4 number 5 Sunset Kodiak and race 6 number 4 Mermaid Monelli. I have played multis through the three of them.
