SPORT

BIG BASH

The final of the Big Bash is due to take place on Saturday night in Sydney between the Sydney Sixers and the Melbourne Stars.

With the weather forecast looking dire it is not looking great as far as getting underway.

Should by some freak of nature the game go ahead I am opting for the Sydney Sixers to prevail at $1.85.

I like Steve Smith most runs for the Sixers at $3.50 and Maxwell most runs the Stars at $3.70.

NBL

The Perth Wildcats are at home to the Brisbane Bullets on Sunday and the winning bonanza looks set to continue for the Cats.

With the aid of the home court advantage the Wildcats are the $1.47 favourites with the Kings paying $2.70.

There has been good support for the Cats to both win as well as at the line which is now out to -4.5 points. I’m happy to back the Cats to win by 5 points or more at the $1.87 and will have my standard specks on them to win big 11 or more at $3 and 17 points or more at $6.50.

A-LEAGUE

The Perth Glory play host to the Wellington Phoenix on Friday night and will be keen to add another 3 points to their season tally.

I’ll take the $1.97 being offered about the Glory in a multi with Sydney FC which is paying $3.34.

PREMIER LEAGUE

My Premier League multi for this week requires Everton, Manchester City, Southampton and Liverpool to all prevail this round. The multi quote is $3.80.

AFLW

The AFLW season gets underway this weekend and I will take a multi which requires GWS and Collingwood to win in to Fremantle to cover the line and win by 7 points or more. The multi is paying $3.43.

RACING

My best racing bets of the weekend are as follows:

Caulfield Saturday Race 2 Number 1 Acting (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $8.00) : Smart filly who has won 3 of her 5 career starts and in an interview on TAB Radio this morning Trainer Trent Bussutin gave a nice push for this girl. Has won at this track and over this distance and looks primed for a forward showing at nice odds here.

Caulfield Saturday Race 3 Number 4 Fresh (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.90) : Promising filly who was really starting to stretch out nicely last start when she finished on nicely for a close up second over 1000 metres at this venue. Steps up to 1100 metres for this assignment and that looks ideal. The clear danger looks to be the Sydney filly and favourite Muntaseera and they look a nice quinella play.

Caulfield Saturday Race 6 Number 10 Anaheed (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $3.70) : Winner of the Blue Sapphire and stepped up to take on the older horses when a tremendous third in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes behind Loving Gaby. She is a very spirited filly and has won fresh in the past. Clearly the testing material and the $3.70 looks great value.

Pinjarra Saturday Race 8 Number 3 Cryptic Wonder (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2) : Classy three year old who has tuned up for this race with two impressive trials at Lark Hill. Drawn nicely in barrier 4 and with the services of William Pike should get every opportunity to return a winner. Very hard to stop.

Cannington Saturday Race 5 Number 1 Nessa’s Yasmin (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price Not Available) : In form type who has drawn perfectly here in box one. Should hold the top and be very hard to get past. Other nice plays on the program look to be 2-2 Zack Monelli, 9-5 Cindy’s Oliver and 10-4 Fire Fly Nolan.
