Australia commence their One Day series against Pakistan from 7.00pm this evening and they will head into the match high on confidence after defeating India 3-2 in the recently completed series in India.

Spots for the World Cup are at a premium and it is driving some excellent performances from the Aussie outfit who have really hit form over the last month.

Australia head in to tonight’s match as favourites at $1.70 with the home side Pakistan a $2.15 outsider.

Off what I saw in India I am happy to back Australia and will include the $1.70 in a few of my multis for this weekend.

Usman Khawaja was in hot form in India and the last time Australia visited Pakistan in the UAE for a Test series Khawaja was the standout batsman for the Aussies.

Accordingly I will be happy to back him at $3.70 to be the leading runscorer for Australia and will also have something on him to win Man Of The Match honours at $7.

Our season got off to a flyer last night with our first pick for First Goalscorer Tom Lynch doing the right thing at $9.00.

Into the remaining matches this weekend and I am taking a multi with Collingwood to beat Geelong, Melbourne to beat Port Adelaide and Adelaide to beat Hawthorn. The multi is $2.63. You could also include Fremantle to beat Carlton in the AFLW semi-final which takes the multi price to $3.74.

Looking for value in the first goalscorers markets and I have backed Eddie Betts at $10, Aaron Naughton at $15, Jeremy Cameron at $7.50 and Ben Brown at $7.

I will have a small multi on the Perth Glory to defeat the Melbourne Victory into Sydney FC to beat the Brisbane Roar. The multi price is $2.89.

I’ll have a three leg multi which needs Stephen Thompson, Curtis Blaydes and Eric Shelton to win their respective bouts. The multi is paying $2.47.

A stellar day of racing at Rosehill with Winx the star of the show and the richest 2 year old race in the world, the Golden Slipper the feature event.

My best bets of the weekend are as follows :

Rosehill Saturday Race 3 Number 10 Shraaoh (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $3) : Handed in an excellent effort last time out when runner-up behind Hiyaam at Randwick over 2000 metres beaten a narrow margin. Should appreciate the extra distance of this event and has drawn to get a beautiful run from barrier one. Has the services of Kerryn McEvoy and has won his only ever start on a heavy track. Carries just 53.5 kilograms and looks very nicely placed in this race.

Rosehill Saturday Race 6 Number 10 Danzdanzdance (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $7) : Classy Kiwi mare who should eat up the likely rain affected surface. Has had 6 tries on soft for 3 wins and 3 placings and 2 tries on heavy for 1 win and a second. Has two wins and two placings from her last 5 starts and all of those have been in New Zealand feature events. This is a deep field with plenty of quality but if the track conditions are heavy I expect her to be an excellent each way bet.

Mornington Saturday Race 9 Number 1 Mr Quickie (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $1.90) : Classy three year old who has had 8 career starts for 6 wins and a second. Resumed when a winner at Flemington over 1400 metres and looks set for another fruitful preparation. Is one of those horses that has a great will to win and can maintain his excellent strike rate in this event.

Ascot Saturday Race 5 Number 6 Amelia’s On Fire (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $4.80) : Promising filly who won her only career start in comfortable fashion at Ascot over the 1000 metres. Looked well above average on that occasion and Trainer Simon Miller has an excellent record with 2 year olds. This is a quality lineup but I am happy to be on this girl each way.

Cannington Saturday Race 6 Number 7 Orson Allen (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.20) : Was clearly the most impressive performance in last week’s Perth Cup heats and looms as the one they all have to beat in the final. Should lead and will be hard to run down from there. I also like the chances of race 2 number 1 Love Me Tinder. On Friday night at Mandurah I am backing 3-5 Roofin’Roy and 7-3 Vee Bee Mate.
